Rams land another Chiefs star after Trent McDuffie with $51 million deal for 6-foot-2 CB

The Los Angeles Rams are making some big moves this offseason as they go all-in now that Matthew Stafford is coming back for what could be his last year in the NFL.

They came into the offseason with major cornerback issues, and they've already made one move by trading for and extending Trent McDuffie on a massive $124 million deal. But McDuffie isn't the only Chiefs cornerback they're adding.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Rams are in agreement on a huge $51 million contract with Jaylen Watson, a 6-foot-2 cornerback who now reunites with his former Chiefs teammate in McDuffie with the Rams.

Rams to sign Jaylen Watson to $51M deal

"The Rams are signing two-time Super Bowl champion CB Jaylen Watson to a three-year, $51 million deal with $34M guaranteed, sources tell The Insiders," Pelissero reports.

This is a massive addition for the Rams, as they had a major hole in the secondary last season and needed to add multiple cornerbacks this offseason.

So, not only have they gone out and acquired the top trade target in McDuffie in a four-pick blockbuster, but they are also going out and signing Watson to a big contract.

This $17 million per-year deal for Watson is a good amount of money for the 27-year-old cornerback. He's started 29 games over the last four years, including 15 this past season.

He's recorded three interceptions (including one 99-yard pick-six), 24 passes defended, four sacks, 178 tackles, eight tackles for loss, and a 92.3 passer rating allowed for his four-year Chiefs career.

This is a nice addition for the Chiefs with their major cornerback needs. Watson and McDuffie are back together in the same secondary, and the Rams' new-look cornerback room is a whole lot better than it was last year.

These additions aren't official, and won't be until Wednesday, but these are the exact kind of moves the Rams needed to make this offseason to go all-in in 2026.
