The Indianapolis Colts have been looking for ways to get the team better than they finished last season, after missing the postseason despite an 8-1 start. The team has some key free agents, but they are re-signing one of their premier free agents to remain with the team long-term. Let’s take a closer look at who they are keeping and what it means going forward.

ESPN’s Pat McAfee is reporting that the Indianapolis Colts are re-signing wide receiver Alec Pierce, one of the top players on the market, to a four-year, $116 million contract. Pierce is coming off a career season where he led the league in yards per reception for a second straight year. He would play in 15 games and record 47 catches on 84 targets for 1,003 yards (21.3 yards per reception) with six receiving touchdowns.
Keeping the offense for the Indianapolis Colts intact from last season is a bold strategy, but it appears the team is believing they are the team from the first half of the 2025 season and not the second half. Pierce has proven to be a strong complimentary wide receiver for Michael Pittman Jr. and this offense has a chance to be one of the best in the NFL.
With the Indianapolis Colts not owning their first-round pick this season due to the Sauce Gardner trade, they are going to be looking to bring that same dominance from the first half of the year. It will be intriguing to see if Pierce is able to keep the same trajectory going forward with a large contract under his belt.
