Why Jets are signing ex-Bengals edge rusher Joseph Ossai in NFL free agency

The New York Jets have reportedly added to their edge rushers room.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Jets and former Cincinnati Bengals edge rusher Joseph Ossai have agreed to a contract in free agency.

"BREAKING: The Jets are signing former Bengals pass-rusher Joseph Ossai, per sources," Schultz reported.

Schultz adds that the deal is for three years and $36 million.

Why Jets signed Joseph Ossai

The Jets recently traded Jermaine Johnson to the Tennessee Titans, which left them with a hole opposite Will McDonald. Ossai has been signed to fill that hole.

Over four seasons with the Bengals, Ossai tallied 14.5 sacks, including a career-high five in 2024 and 2025.
