Liverpool were dealt an injury blow on the eve of their Champions League fixture against Galatasaray, with Alisson forced to miss despite training on Monday.
Alisson OUT vs. Galatasaray after injury in training
The big news on Monday was Alisson being left out of Liverpool’s 21-man travelling squad for the first leg of their last 16 tie.
The Brazilian was part of training at the AXA but merely hours later was a surprise omission from Arne Slot‘s squad, with it revealed he had suffered a fitness issue during the session.
It has been described as minor, with the club not prepared to take any risks, but Alisson‘s history with injuries will leave supporters doubting a swift return. This will be the 10th game he has missed this season.
Giorgi Mamardashvili will finally get another start. He has not featured since January 12, and you can only hope his teammates remember he is left-footed!

• Mamardashvili has spoken about needing to be patient in his battle with Alisson for a start – he hasn’t needed to wait long, has he?
• James McConnell is a step closer to marking his return from injury, with the midfielder back training outdoors – it’s been a rough season for the youngster!
• Liverpool will discover their FA Cup quarter-final opponent in Monday’s draw, which is expected to get underway at 7.05pm (UK). A home tie would be nice!
Predicted Liverpool XI vs. Galatasaray
Slot has a few decisions to make when it comes to his starting lineup for the first leg against Galatasaray, including whether Florian Wirtz is ready to be included in the XI.
As already mentioned, Mamardashvili will assume the No. 1 role, but will the head coach opt for Joe Gomez or Jeremie Frimpong; Mac Allister or Jones; Wirtz or Gakpo?

It was 21 years ago now, in 2005, that Liverpool moved a step closer to lifting the Champions League trophy – not that they knew it at the time!
Rafa Benitez‘s side travelled to face Bayer Leverkusen in the second leg of their quarter-final tie, and a Luis Garcia brace and a Milan Baros strike made certain of the result.
Liverpool won 6-2 on aggregate after respective 3-1 wins at home and on the road.
It marked a charge towards Istanbul, with Juventus, Chelsea and later AC Milan all seen off in dramatic circumstances – how did our nervous system survive?!
