The Pittsburgh Steelers will not be bringing back cornerback James Pierre. After a breakout season in 2025, Pierre is signing a two-year, $8.5 million deal with the Minnesota Vikings, per [Cameron Wolfe](https://x.com/CameronWolfe/status/2031051103966494870?s=20).
Former Steelers secondary coach Gerald Alexander joined the Vikings’ staff this offseason, and now Pierre follows him to the NFC North.
The Steelers opened up the day by re-signing Asante Samuel Jr. to a one-year, $4 million deal, seemingly making their choice between their two free agent cornerbacks.
Pierre had a fantastic 2025, allowing a passer rating of just 50.9 when targeted and a target EPA of -5.1.
