Green Bay Packers lose another pass rusher in 2026 NFL free agency

Earlier today, it was reported that the Green Bay Packers traded Pro Bowl pass rusher Rashan Gary to the Dallas Cowboys. In return, the Packers are receiving a fourth round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. The move will save Green Bay $11 million on their 2026 salary cap, giving them some much needed relief and flexibility.

While it was expected that the Packers were going to part ways with Gary this off-season, many had hoped that they would be able to retain Kingsley Enagbare. However, as it turns out, they were not able to do so.

According to multiple NFL reporters, Enagbare has agreed to a one-year contract with the New York Jets in NFL free agency:

The deal, which cannot be signed until Wednesday, the start of the new league year, is worth $10 million.

A fifth round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Enagbare had 11.5 sacks in his four seasons with Green Bay. As a rotational player, he rarely saw the field as much as others ahead of him on the depth chart. Last year, for instance, he only played 42% of defensive snaps and had 2.5 sacks. This was down from the 2024 season that saw him play 47% of defensive snaps and record 4.5 sacks.

The $10 million salary he will receive from New York in 2026 is an indication that they likely plan on using him as a starting pass rusher, a role he likely would not have had with the Packers. Micah Parsons, of course, will start on one end, while former first round pick Lukas Van Ness will start on the other.
