The Detroit Lions have found their replacement for Frank Ragnow in NFL free agency.
According to Joe Person of The Athletic, the Lions are signing center Cade Mays to a three-year deal worth $25 million.
"C Cade Mays to the Lions on a three-year, $25 million deal with $14M guaranteed, per league source," Person said
Why Lions are signing Cade Mays to three-year contract
Detroit released their 2025 starting center, Frank Ragnow, and though they did acquire Juice Scruggs in a trade with the Houston Texans, it looks like he isn't going to be the starter.
Mays started 12 games for the Panthers in 2025 and was a solid starter, allowing zero sacks and 11 quarterback pressures. He now cashes in with the Lions and will be taking over as Detroit's starting center.
We'll see what other moves the Lions make, but adding Mays will bolster their offensive line for 2026.
