Liverpool’s forward line has miss-fired this season, could a swap deal be the perfect solution?

Last season Liverpool won the league with a striker who failed to hit double figures leading the line which is why last summer was so exciting.

When Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike arrived to replace Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz in the forward line, it seemed like the golden ticket had been won and that a second straight Premier League title was almost a certainty. With one of Europe’s finest playmakers in Florian Wirtz pulling the strings, what could possibly go wrong?

Liverpool should make Yan Diomande swap offer

Arne Slot hasn’t helped himself, but he hasn’t had much luck either, as he alluded to himself recently. Isak has barely played, Jeremie Frimpong has shown flashes of what he is capable of before breaking down and when Wirtz finally started producing the numbers that was expected of him, he got injured too. Injuries aside, this season has highlighted a real lack of depth in Liverpool’s attack, especially on the wing, with the Reds boss having to rely on Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah far too often, even when they haven’t been performing.

Calls for Rio Ngumoha to start more often are more than justified, as demonstrated by his performance from the first whistle against Wolves but, at 17-years old, he shouldn’t be fully submerged in the deep-end just yet which is why so many wingers are being linked with a move to Anfield. With more than one needed, one way that Liverpool could solve this issue is by offering Gakpo for a more suitable ball-carrying option. Specifically, RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande. The Netherlands international will produce numbers in the right set-up, but he has found it hard to make a consistent impact this season against increasingly defensive set-ups. / and a swap deal could suit both parties.

Who does Diomande model himself on?

The Ivory Coast international is highly rated across Europe with the player himself having lofty ambitions in terms of who he models his game and mindset on, as reported by Transfermarkt: “I think Vinicius Junior is the best player in comparison,” Diomande said. “When it comes to mindset, my role model is Kylian Mbappé. I think you must have a good mentality. I think if your heart and mind are okay, then you will be okay overall. I try to work on that the most.” Diomande named several other players who he looks up to. “I like to model myself on many players,” he continued.

“My country has many good examples. Players who played with power, such as Gervinho, Yaya Touré, and Max Gradel, but my dream player isn’t from my country. My favourite player is Cristiano Ronaldo.” He might not be there yet, but at a comparable age, Diomande is on the right path to becoming one of Europe’s best.
