Chelsea double exit not ruled out with 'unbelievable' player's future in serious doubt - journalist

Robert Sanchez does not look keen on hanging around at Chelsea if he does not get his No.1 spot back.

After a poor performance against Arsenal in the Premier League, Sanchez was dropped for Chelsea’s next game versus Aston Villa.

Chelsea fans now want to see Filip Jorgensen remain in goal as the Blues prepare to take on Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Chelsea fans pick Jorgensen to start in goal v PSG – do you agree?

The results of our poll: Sanchez or Jorgensen?

Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen could both leave Chelsea this summer

While Sanchez and Jorgensen continue to duke it out to be Chelsea’s No.1, there is a possibility that neither of them have that status next season.

Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that both Sanchez and Jorgensen could leave the club in the summer, with neither wanting to be a back-up keeper.

Allowing at least one departure could pave the way for Mike Penders to return and be integrated into the first team.

The 20-year-old is highly rated at Stamford Bridge and will not be going anywhere any time soon. It has been reported that Chelsea have already rejected enquiries about Penders ahead of the transfer window.

For now, though, Liam Rosenior will have to get the best out of Sanchez and Jorgensen.

Robert Sanchez could end up being another Nicolas Jackson

Chelsea fans should be careful about what they are wishing for. A lot would welcome Nicolas Jackson back after being happy to watch him leave at the start of the season.

It could be a very similar story with Sanchez, who has had a good season overall. One bad match against Arsenal does not eradicate that.

The Spaniard is a terrific shot-stopper. When Karen Carney spoke about several saves that Sanchez made in one game last term on TNT Sports, she said: “[The saves] were unbelievable. When you get criticised, you have to try and put in the performances, and he absolutely did.”

Of course, Sanchez cannot keep making big mistakes in goal for Chelsea. He simply will not survive. But that showing at the Emirates has not been too common in the current campaign.
