Saints to sign Jaguars RB in major move to help Tyler Shough

The New Orleans Saints have been looking to make a few big additions to their offense this offseason, and while a lot of the focus has been on wide receiver, running back was a big need as well.

While there weren't a ton of top options at running back, especially with Kenneth Walker going to the Kansas City Chiefs, the next-best option was Jacksonville Jaguars RB Travis Etienne Jr.

But, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Saints are in agreement on a contract with Etienne to join Shough in the offense for the 2026 season and beyond. Etienne is coming home.

"Sources: The Saints are signing Travis Etienne. Back close to home," Rapoport reported.

This is a big addition for the Saints, as they're now adding Etienne to their running back room with Alvin Kamara likely on his way out.

The 27-year-old running back is joining the Saints, close to home for the Jennings, Louisiana-based star. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, Etienne's deal is for $52 million over four years.

The Saints are landing a star running back for the next four years on a big $14 million per-year. Etienne is a great addition and is coming off a strong season with Jacksonville last year.

Etienne had a great year for the Jaguars in 2025, recording 1,107 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on 260 attempts with 36 receptions for 292 yards and six touchdowns.

He's a great dual-threat running back and is likely taking over for Kamara in the Saints' offense. Kellen Moore's offense is undergoing some big changes, and Etienne is a fun pickup for the Saints offense as Shough enters year-two.
