'It’s easy in hindsight': Lineker warns patience over struggling £40m Liverpool signing

**Gary Lineker has discussed his concern about the form of Milos Kerkez, commenting that Liverpool are missing the dynamic duo that was Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold.**

While the summer transfer window brought with it £460m worth of new transfers, it also marked Alexander-Arnold’s exit to Real Madrid.

Given the animosity from fans towards the former no.66, the impact that his departure has had has been underanalysed. Alexander-Arnold was a quarter-back-esque full-back for Liverpool, and his long-range distribution has been a major loss for the Reds.

However, criticism of Kerkez at left-back is difficult to analyse given how the whole team is struggling, and he’s only just arrived.

Since arriving from Bournemouth in a £40m transfer, Kerkez has had several ups and downs, but Robertson’s brilliant performance against Wolves on Friday has seen an increase in criticism for his Hungarian counterpart.

_“I mean, it’s easy in hindsight,”_ Lineker said. _“They bring in Kerkez and they spent a few bob on him. He comes in and he’s struggled a little bit, but you could see even Andy Robertson at the end—he did say, didn’t he? Well, it took him a bit of time to settle in.”_

Robertson is past his best and it’s time to put faith in Kerkez

---------------------------------------------------------------

Lineker went on to say that Liverpool miss the duo of Robertson and Alexander-Arnold. While the latter is a loss in terms of his creativity, Robertson is past his physical best.

Lineker said: _“I think they’ve really missed those—I know he’s still there, Andy, but he’s not playing regularly. I think they’ve really missed him and Trent. That unbelievable attacking creativity that both of those players have had… that creativity is a big miss for them on both sides, I would say.”_

Kerkez, in my opinion, has had a good season. He was very erratic in the beginning of the season, but has since found more stability. He and the other new signings cannot be expected to play their best football as long as Arne Slot struggles to get the best out of the team as a whole.
