According to multiple reports, including ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Jacksonville Jaguars star running back Travis Etienne Jr. is signing with the New Orleans Saints in NFL free agency. A big loss for the Jacksonville offense. Etienne is from Jennings, Louisiana. The deal is four-years, $52 million

The 27-year-old running back Travis Etienne enjoyed the best season of his career in 2025. He rushed for 1,107 yards on 260 carries and posted seven rushing touchdowns and six receiving touchdowns. Over his four-year NFL career (all with the Jaguars), Etienne Jr. has 3798 rushing yards, 32 total touchdowns, and 1338 receiving yards.

Jaguars Lose Travis Etienne Jr. to Saints

The immediate reaction to the Jaguars losing Travis Etienne Jr. to the Saints is that it’s a big hit to Jacksonville’s short passing game offense. Etienne had become a prominent threat in the passing game for Trevor Lawrence, and now Jacksonville will have to turn to Bhashyul Tuten as the lead running back.

As for Etienne, though, he deserved this payday, and considering the Jaguars are a bit handicapped by their salary cap situation, it would have been hard for them to match New Orleans’ offer, which is a large $13 million AAV.
