Liverpool injury news on Alisson Becker and Federico Chiesa ahead of the Champions League clash against Galatasaray.

The No.1 goalkeeper has not travelled to Istanbul for the last 16 first-leg clash on Tuesday. Alisson took part in training but was omitted from the Reds’ travelling squad.

It means that Giorgi Mamardashvili is set to deputise between the posts at Rams Park. It is a blow for Liverpool although Slot is not too fearful over Alisson’s issue - and he could be back for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Reds head coach said: “Ali was in the session as many people could see. He felt something towards the end of the session. People looked at it and we and he decided it wasn’t good enough to play. There is definitely a chance [he could be back against Tottenham]. We don’t expect it to be a big thing.”

Meanwhile, Federico Chiesa is absent from Liverpool’s set-up to face Turkish champions Galatasaray. The forward was an unused substitute in last week’s 3-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup fifth round. Chiesa is ill so he could also be back for the Tottenham game.

Slot added: “Federico felt unwell last night. That’s why he was not in the session.”
