The Chicago Bears have signed former Cleveland Browns linebacker Devin Bush to a three-year deal, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.

“Former Browns LB Devin Bush reached agreement today on a 3-year, $30 million deal that includes $21 million guaranteed with the Chicago Bears, per agent Drew Rosenhaus.”

Bush, 27, had 125 total tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles, and three interceptions appearing in all 17 games with the Browns last season.

The former 2019 first-round pick has seven years of NFL experience with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Seattle Seahawks, and Browns.

Bears Ink $30M Deal with Devin Bush

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune had this to say about the Bears’ signing Bush:

“Devin Bush made a series of splash plays last season. Certainly adds element of speed to middle of the defense.”

Bush was ESPN’s No. 63-rated free agent, noting, “Bush made some splash plays in Cleveland this past season. He returned two of his three interceptions for touchdowns, and added two forced fumbles and two sacks. A run-and-hit defender with range at the second level, Bush also had a career-best 125 total tackles.”

With the Bears’ decision to move on from linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, Bush will step in and serve a crucial role in the middle of the defense alongside TJ Edwards.

More on Bush and the Bears’ Plan at Linebacker

This is a rock-solid deal for a linebacker who had a breakout season. Daniel Popper of The Athletic had Bush projected to sign a three-year, $47 million deal, writing, “A top-10 pick in 2019, Bush has outstanding athletic traits and put his game fully together in 2025 in Jim Schwartz’s Browns defense. Bush’s ball production ticked up. He finished with three interceptions, two off deflections, and two forced fumbles. Bush has sideline-to-sideline speed, good eyes in zone coverage and a lightning-quick trigger in pursuit.”

The Bears were able to lock him in for the same number of years but at only $30 million in total.

Chicago also made an underrated move, re-signing linebacker D’Marco Jackson on a two-year, $7.5 million deal with a max value of 10.5M, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport announced.
