The FA Cup continues to deliver drama this season and attention now turns to the quarter final draw. Clubs across England are waiting to learn their next opponents as the competition moves closer to Wembley. Among those watching closely are Arsenal and Chelsea, who both navigated tricky fifth round ties to secure their places in the last eight.

Supporters will soon know how the bracket shapes up as the remaining teams prepare for the decisive stage of the tournament.

Arsenal edge past Mansfield to reach last eight

Arsenal booked their place in the quarter finals after a hard fought 2-1 victory over Mansfield Town. Mikel Arteta’s side entered the tie as favourites but the lower league side made life difficult for the visitors throughout the contest. The Gunners also made a small piece of history during the match. Arteta named two 16-year-olds in the starting lineup, becoming the first club from the Premier League to do so in a competitive fixture. It was a bold move that reflected the manager’s willingness to trust young talent in cup competitions.

On the pitch, Arsenal has required moments of quality to get results. Noni Madueke scored one goal and set another up as the visitors also raced into an early lead. Mansfield responded well, continuing to push on until a Will Evans goal brought them back in it and raised hopes of an upset. With Arsenal’s composure restored, they found the winner when Eberechi Eze got a decisive finish.

The goal settled nerves late in the game and ensured the north London club advanced to the next stage of the competition. As per the reports, Arsenal remain one of the favourites to lift the trophy this season as they continue to compete strongly in both domestic football and the FA Cup campaign.

Chelsea survive scare against Wrexham

Chelsea’s path to the quarter finals proved far more dramatic. Liam Rosenior’s side travelled to face Wrexham and were pushed to the limit in a tense encounter that eventually required extra time. The Blues struggled to control the match and found themselves under heavy pressure for long spells. Wrexham played with confidence and came close to producing one of the shocks of the round.

Chelsea appeared to be heading for elimination late in the game before Josh Acheampong stepped up with a crucial equaliser. His late goal forced an additional 30 minutes and gave the visitors a lifeline. Once the match moved into extra time, Chelsea’s attacking quality finally began to show.

Alejandro Garnacho struck first to put the London club ahead before Joao Pedro added another goal to secure a 3-1 victory. The result was far from comfortable but it secured Chelsea a place in the quarter final draw.

When the FA Cup quarter final draw takes place

Attention now shifts to Monday evening when the FA Cup quarter final draw will determine the next set of fixtures. The draw is scheduled to begin shortly before the final fifth round match between West Ham United and Brentford. The ceremony is expected to start at around 7pm with coverage available live on TNT Sports 1. Supporters can also watch the draw through the broadcaster’s YouTube channel.

Seven teams have already secured their place in the draw. Arsenal and Chelsea will join Liverpool, Manchester City, Leeds United, Southampton and Port Vale in the draw. Either West Ham United or Brentford will claim the final spot depending on the outcome of their match.

The competition will stage the quarter final ties during the weekend of April 4 and 5. With several major clubs still involved, the next round promises another exciting chapter in one of the oldest cup competitions in world football.
