Manchester City will get the chance to freshen up their ranks this summer
Manchester City will sign Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento this summer, believes ex-Everton and Aston Villa chief executive Keith Wyness. City have been linked with a move for the Premier League right-back this summer. He is under contract in the North East until June 2028.
Pep Guardiola’s side remain 2nd in the table behind Arsenal. They are seven points off the Gunners with a game in hand. The North West outfit are back in action on Wednesday night with an away trip to Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Manchester City’s chances of signing Tino Livramento assessed
Wyness reckons City will snap up Livramento in the next transfer window ahead of other teams, as per a report by Football Insider: “Yes, very much so. I think that’s pretty much nailed on as far as I’m aware.
“I heard from somebody the other day. I talked to an agent who said that it’s going to be happening. They did expect that sort of big number around the £70m mark, which is a big number, as we say, breaking the record. But I think he’s the right one for City. I think he’s a talented player, and it helps Newcastle fill the coffers.”
Livramento, 23, joined Newcastle back in 2023 and has since become one of their key players. He has made 100 appearances for the Toon Army in all competitions to date, 20 of which have come this season, and he has chipped in with one goal from the back. The Magpies could face a battle to keep hold of him down the line amid attention from elsewhere.
Would Tino Livramento suit Manchester City?
If City landed Livramento, he would give them another option at full-back. He could provide them with more competition and depth in their defensive department. The Londoner likes to get up and down the flank and get involved in attacks.
The England international, who has three caps to his name, rose up through Chelsea’s academy. He was a regular for the Blues at various different youth levels before switching to Southampton. Livramento then went on to play 34 matches for the Saints’ first-team before Newcastle managed to lure him up north and he hasn’t looked back since.
