Liverpool are seriously considering signing Moussa Diaby with the winger being told he is free to leave the club in the summer transfer window.
The Reds’ struggles this season have made it clear that they need to invest in new talent on the wings. Mohamed Salah has been underperforming all season while Cody Gakpo is not of the standard required to be the starting left winger for Liverpool.
Combined, they have just 17 goals this season, leading to Liverpool expanding its search for new wingers this summer.
RB Leipzig’s teenage sensation, Yan Diomande, has been veyr heavily linked with a summer transfer to Liverpool, but until it’s official, there will continue to be many wingers linked with the Reds.
Diaby is the latest to emerge as a target.
Moussa Diaby told he is free to leave Al-Ittihad
According to a report from teamTALK, Diaby is one of the wingers that Liverpool are seriously considering making a move for when the summer transfer window opens.
The report states: “Diaby’s future is undecided as the summer transfer window approaches. The 26-year-old winger, who joined Al-Ittihad from Aston Villa in a £51million (€60m, $69m) deal in July 2024, is keen to return to European football after an underwhelming stint in the Saudi Pro League. Sources state he is ready to come back, like many players are after two years in the Middle East.
“Premier League interest is particularly strong. We can confirm Liverpool are in close contact with Diaby’s representatives, viewing him as a potential long-term successor to Mohamed Salah amid ongoing uncertainty over the Egyptian’s future.”
With three goals and 13 assists in 33 games, Diaby is an interesting target, although the standard of the Saudi Pro League makes these numbers difficult to compare to the Premier League.

The report claims that Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes is considering Diaby as a ‘serious option’, but Diomande remains above the Frenchman in the club’s transfer shortlist.
In Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak, Liverpool have two elite strikers and so signing rapid, creative wingers is the next step in developing this new Liverpool attack.
Ultimately, it seems likely that Liverpool’s interest in Diaby will come down to the fee that Al-Ittihad demands.
