Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report recently proposed a hypothetical deal that would send Leonard to the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, the Detroit Pistons.
Because the trade deadline has already passed, the move could only happen during the summer. In Bailey's proposed scenario:
Pistons receive:
Kawhi Leonard
Clippers receive:
Duncan Robinson
Isaiah Stewart
Ron Holland
2027 first-round pick
2031 first-round pick swap
"The biggest reason this would make sense for Detroit is the simple fact that Kawhi is still one of the five to 10 best players in the league," Bailey wrote.
Leonard, who will turn 35 in June, continues to perform at an elite level. He is averaging 27.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game.
The veteran forward is an LA native and has been with the LA Clippers since 2019.

Ahead of the February 5 trade deadline, several teams reportedly reached out to Los Angeles about Leonard, including the Golden State Warriors and Philadelphia 76ers, as the Clippers explored potential roster changes.
He has also been loosely linked to the Los Angeles Lakers amid the Aspiration scandal. However, for now, the speculation appears to be little more than noise.
In Bailey's proposal, Leonard's presence in Detroit would draw significant perimeter defensive attention away from Cade Cunningham. That could reduce Cunningham's playmaking burden on some possessions and help him score more efficiently.
For the Clippers, the trade would signal a full transition into a new era. The team already moved James Harden and Ivica Zubac at the deadline and appears to be beginning a roster reset.
