The Denver Broncos have lost one of their key free agents to the Tennessee Titans.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers is signing a three-year, $63 million contract with the Titans.
Rapoport adds that the deal includes $42 million in guaranteed money.
"John Franklin-Meyers is signing with the Titans on a 3-year, $63M deal with $42M guaranteed, per The Insiders," Rapoport reported.
The writing was on the wall that JFM could end up in Tennessee, and for multiple reasons.
Not only does he have a connection to Titans head coach Robert Saleh from their days together with the New York Jets, but he also has a link to defensive assistant coach Tanzel Smart, who was his teammate with the Jets.
Franklin-Myers even hinted on social media that he might be interested in going to Tennessee after it was announced Smart was taking the job with the Titans.
This is a big addition for the Titans, as Franklin-Myers was one of the best defenders available in free agency after two very good years with the Broncos.
Not only was he an asset against the run, but JFM also tallied 14.5 sacks in that span. He offers inside/outside versatility, also.
Meanwhile, in Denver, the Broncos now have a big hole to fill upfront, but if any team is capable of overcoming such a loss, it's Denver and its elite defense.
