Liverpool has discovered it's FA Cup quarter-final opponents

Liverpool has discovered its FA Cup quarter-final opponents, with the Reds set to face Manchester City next month.

The match will take place at the Etihad on the weekend of 4/5 April, and is the first game after the March international break.

Liverpool made it to the last eight after beating Barnsley, Brighton and Wolves. As for City, it has beaten Exeter City, Salford City and Newcastle United.

The FA Cup represents Liverpool's best chance of winning silverware this season, with the Reds 19 points off the Premier League summit, and facing a difficult draw in the Champions League.

Should Liverpool or City progress to the Champions League quarter-finals, the first legs would take place just days after the FA Cup tie.

Liverpool and City last met in the FA Cup four years ago, when Jurgen Klopp's Reds won 3-2 in the Wembley semi-final en route to be crowned cup winners.

Elsewhere in the draw, Liverpool's rivals Arsenal and Chelsea were handed more favourable draws.

The Gunners travel to Championship Southampton in the quarter-finals, while Liam Rosenior's side faces Port Vale.

The final tie sees West Ham United or Brentford host Leeds United.
