Washington Commanders Free Agency: Odafe Oweh agrees to 4-year, $100 million deal

The NFL’s legal tampering period started at noon today, and the Washington Commanders have reportedly agreed to terms on a 4-year, $100 million deal($68 million guaranteed) with Chargers DE Odafe Oweh. Washington was expected to make a big move to improve the defense in free agency, and now we know one of their top targets. Improving the pass rush was a top priority for GM Adam Peters, HC Dan Quinn, and new DC Daronte Jones.

Oweh was a first-round pick(31st overall) of the Baltimore Ravens in 2021. He was in Baltimore for his first three NFL seasons, but was traded to the Chargers, along with a 2027 seventh-round pick for a 2026 sixth round pick and safety Alohi Gilman. Oweh has 17.5 sacks over the last two seasons, and is a player that will step into a big role on the defensive line along with a returning Dorance Armstrong. Washington also signed Deatrich Wise Jr, but should still be looking add more pass rushers.
