KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The new NFL league year begins Wednesday, but the tampering period of NFL free agency has begun, which means new contract reports are being shared fast and furious on Monday.
So who’s coming and going in Chiefs Kingdom?
Here’s a timeline of reported moves as the Chiefs prepare for an attempt to bounce back following a disappointing 2025 season.
10:27 a.m. -- Kelce returns
According to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, tight end Travis Kelce plans to return to the Chiefs for a 14th season.
11:23 a.m. -- Chiefs add Super Bowl MVP
Former Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker agrees to a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Walker appears to confirm the deal as well, posting edits of him in a Chiefs uniform to X and Instagram.
The deal is worth just over $43 million, and includes $28 million in guarantees, with Walker under contract for three seasons.
11:36 a.m. -- Rams reunite former Chiefs cornerbacks
Nearly a week after the Chiefs sent All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams, the NFC West juggernaut add another former Chiefs defender to their roster.
Former Chiefs cornerback Jaylen Watson signs with the Rams, reuniting with McDuffie after agreeing to terms on a three-year, $51 million deal with $34 million in guarantees.
1:02 p.m. -- Chiefs bulk up defensive line
With Mike Pennel and Derrick Nnadi departing the Chiefs roster, the Chiefs add former New England Patriots defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga from the defending AFC Champions.
According to a report from NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Tonga signed a three-year deal worth $21 million and $14 million guaranteed.

2:26 p.m. -- Cook heads home
An assault on the Chiefs secondary continues, with another 2022 draft class member for Kansas City departing.
Safety Bryan Cook, a Cincinnati, Ohio, native and University of Cincinnati product, signs with the Cincinnati Bengals on a three-year deal worth $40.25 million, reports Rapoport.
Cook gets $18 million in year one of the deal.
3:51 p.m. -- Chiefs in need of new backup QB
Chiefs backup quarterback Gardner Minshew, who operated behind Patrick Mahomes and started one game in 2025 for Kansas City, agrees to a one-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the deal is worth $8.25 million.
