Report: Jaguars ‘Entertaining’ Trade Offers For WR Brian Thomas Jr.: ‘Stance Has Changed’

The Jacksonville Jaguars are willing to trade former first-round WR Brian Thomas Jr. Per SNY’s Connor Hughes, the Jaguars are entertaining offers as they decide Thomas’ future with the team.

A recent report indicated Thomas wasn’t on the block, but Hughes notes the organization’s “stance has changed” since last year, when Jacksonville opted against dealing him.

Both the #Jets & #Giants explored Thomas at the traded deadline last year, but Jacksonville wasn't willing to do any deal.

That stance has changed.

Hughes’ tweet indicates the New York Jets and New York Giants made calls to Jacksonville last season. He doesn’t mention Pittsburgh. After a great rookie season, Thomas regressed in 2025 under Jacksonville’s new regime. So far, the Jaguars haven’t made a big splash to add another receiver, but if such a move occurs in the coming days, Thomas will become even more expendable.

Even with the Steelers agreeing to trade for Indianapolis Colts WR Michael Pittman Jr. on Monday, the door doesn’t seem shut on them making another deal for Thomas.

He’s younger and more explosive, offering a different skill set than what Pittman offers. Trading for Thomas would keep consistent with the Steelers’ apparent angle of preserving compensatory selections, even if the team won’t receive the 2027 haul they officially picked up for 2026. A dozen draft picks give GM Omar Khan plenty of flexibility to wheel and deal.

Thomas will cost a lot more than Pittman. Given that WR DJ Moore fetched a second-round pick in last week’s trade from the Chicago Bears to the Jacksonville Jaguars, that’s likely the minimum the Jaguars would want for Thomas. He has two years left on his rookie contract and is eligible for a fifth-year option. That decision is due next May.

Whether or not Pittsburgh is willing to offer such a large sum remains to be seen. But an on-paper trio of DK Metcalf, Brian Thomas, and Michael Pittman Jr. would give the Steelers one of the largest starting wide receiver rooms in football and massively upgrade the top-three the team had a year ago.
