The Golden State Warriors have been in a few dust-ups over the years. Draymond Green has been involved in most of them. Green has a reputation around the NBA as an agitator, and he has been suspended multiple times for antics on the court.
One of his more famous, or infamous, moments happened in a fight against Rudy Gobert. Green was seen putting Gobert in a chokehold during a fight during an NBA Cup game back in 2023. After that fight, Green was suspended for five games. He was fined, as well.
Recently, Green addressed that fight. He revealed that he doesn’t remember holding on to Gobert for that long.

Warriors Forward Draymond Green Talks Infamous Rudy Gobert Fight
While appearing on an episode of Unguarded with Fred VanVleet, Green talked about that moment of choking out Gobert. He claims he didn’t realize how long he had a hold of him.
“I did not realize I was choking him that long. I did not realize I had him that long. When I got back to the locker room, I was watching this, and I was like ‘damn, this is bad.’ I didn’t realize I had him that long. I thought it was a quick boom-boom.”
Green instantly knew he was going to be in a lot of trouble once he rewatched the event.
“Once I saw how long it was, I just went and sat in the equipment room. I was talking to our equipment guys, and I was like, ‘damn man, I wish that didn’t happen.’ And they was like, ‘Dray, you held him for so long.’ I didn’t think it was that long.”
It was not the first time that Green was suspended for something that happened on the court, and it likely won’t be the last. Green is a fiery player who plays at a high intensity all the time. Clearly, he doesn’t realize how intense he gets sometimes.

Draymond Green Has a History of Suspensions
Over the years, Green has suffered suspensions for a multitude of incidents. The most famous one was being suspended for Game 5 of the NBA Finals in 2016 after kicking LeBron James below the belt. Warriors fans still believe they would have won it all had he not done that.
In all, Green has been suspended six times in his career. He has tried to keep his temper in check more this season, and he hasn’t gotten a suspension this year. He is more focused on trying to win games, as he has a bigger goal in mind.
Green is trying hard to win one final title in this era of the Warriors. It is much harder to accomplish with Jimmy Butler injured for the season. Stephen Curry has also battled injuries this season. Right now, Golden State sits eighth in the Western Conference standings.
The Warriors have struggled with offense all season long, as they have the 15th-best offense in the league. That makes it tough for them to win it all.
