There is a theme developing in Broncos Country ahead of the 2026 season, and as a result, the team's choice to re-sign linebacker Alex Singleton should not come as a surprise.
After agreeing to terms with Justin Strnad on a new deal on Sunday, the Broncos did the same with Alex Singleton on Monday, handing him a two-year, $15.5 million deal, according to sources. The deal will become official with the start of the new league year on Wednesday.
Singleton has been the team's leading tackler in three of the four seasons he has been with the team and the only year he didn't, which was 2024, he tore his ACL and missed most of the season. Last year, overcoming a cancer scare made him a favorite within the fanbase and inside the locker room.
Grading the Broncos re-signing Alex Singleton
The Broncos clearly feel that the 2025 team was good enough to run it back in 2026, as the front office has chosen to re-sign as many players as possible rather than to look outside the organization.
Singleton is a great leader and a tackling machine, but he's also aging at the position and struggles in pass coverage. It will be interesting to see what else the team has in mind at this position, particularly when it comes to the draft, and how many snaps they plan to use Singleton for this coming season.

That said, the move fits with the offseason theme of keeping the band together and taking another crack at getting to the big game. It's not a stellar move, but it's also not a bad one. It builds continuity at a position the Broncos have struggled with for years and leaves room for growth.
