KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - It’s the news Chiefs fans have been waiting for all offseason: Travis Kelce will return to the Chiefs for his 14th year in the NFL, per reports from NFL Network.
Fans have been making their guesses about Kelce’s future for a while now.
One fan shopping at a downtown Rally House told KCTV5, “I had a hunch. I had a hunch. He can’t give it up. He’s too much of a competitor.”
Another fan walking on the Plaza didn’t know until the moment we shared the news.
“Oh my God, I’m so excited. I just, I wasn’t sure. I kept telling everybody, ‘Oh yeah, he’s coming back. He’s coming back.’ But I was worried.”
Many fans were confident about his return, because of how great he played last year. Kelce led the Chiefs in receptions and receiving yards in 2025 and was tied for the team lead in receiving touchdowns.
“We obviously know that he can do it. The salary cap always comes into play. But at the end of the day, you always want Travis Kelce back,” said one Chiefs fan.
With Patrick Mahomes recovering from a torn ACL, and many major roster changes happening, the news will help fans rest easy knowing the longtime Chief will be back in the locker room leading the team.
“There’s a lot of transitioning going on it seems like with the Chiefs getting rid of some players and bringing on new ones. So I think he’ll be good bringing on those new players,” said a fan.
“He has a no quit, never give up attitude,” said another.
“Great competitor, love to see him compete, you can tell he loves the game,” another added.
But it’s not just what Kelce does on the field that has him so near and dear to Chiefs fans’ hearts.
“He’s just a great person for our city. The way he helps out at Operation Breakthrough, and brings that enthusiasm to young kids, he’s just an impressive person.”
These fans all agreed: they feel much better about the team’s success next year with Kelce back on the roster.
