Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness has brutally labelled Liverpool as 'Real Madrid reserves', with Alexis Mac Allister the latest Reds star linked to Los Blancos. Dominik Szoboszlai emerged as a player of interest to those in the Spanish capital last week, with Mac Allister appearing to be mooted as the midfield target over the last few days.
It has been a challenging season for the latter at Anfield, though Szoboszlai has arguably been Liverpool's best player this season. Nonetheless, Mac Allister would be an asset to Real, and Wyness believes the Argentine would even consider a move to the Bernabeu.
He told Football Insider: “Well, last week we talked about Szoboszlai going to Real Madrid, and now we’ve got McAllister going to Real Madrid. It seems like they’re [Liverpool] Real Madrid reserves at the moment. I do think McAllister could be interested in Real Madrid.
“I think that’s one that’s got more legs than Szoboszlai. And I think that may be something that they will at least be talking about right now.
“Still early days in terms of the agents making their move, but Real Madrid are definitely going to be making their move.”
Ibrahima Konate was another Liverpool star firmly on their radar, but those links have diminished over the last few weeks despite the fact that minimal progress has been made on a new contract for the Frenchman.

Real are well-stocked in midfield but injury problems have forced several of those established names to play elsewhere. Federico Valverde has been deployed at right-back on several occasions this season, but that is likely to not happen as much now that former Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold is fit again.
It has been an extremely challenging first six months overseas for the 27-year-old, with a number of separate injury problems hampering him.
The England international has been available for the last few weeks however, and picked up his second assist of an injury-ravaged campaign just a few weeks ago.
He also played 90 minutes for just the third time since December in last Friday's 2-1 win at Celta Vigo.

It was a last-minute goal from Valverde that sealed the victory with Alexander-Arnold facing some serious criticism for his role in Celta's equaliser that looked to have damaged Real's already slim La Liga title hopes.
The Champions League is the current focus for Real with Alvaro Arbeloa's side set to face Manchester City over two last-16 legs. Liverpool meanwhile, travel face Galatasaray in Turkiye on Tuesday evening with the second leg the following Wednesday at Anfield.
Both teams are on the same side of the bracket and will face off in the semi-finals if Liverpool beat Galatasaray and one of Paris Saint-Germain or Chelsea. Real would need to bypass Pep Guardiola's side and then either Atalanta or Bayern Munich.
