The Denver Broncos entered the opening day of NFL free agency hoping to reshape their offense.

Instead, the early hours of the market delivered a frustrating reality.

Multiple targets connected to Denver quickly came off the board, leaving the Broncos still searching for impact playmakers around quarterback Bo Nix.

Now, a new trade rumor involving one of the league’s most explosive young receivers has sparked conversation about whether Denver should make an aggressive move.

According to SNY insider Connor Hughes, the Jacksonville Jaguars are currently entertaining trade offers for wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. The report marks a major shift in Jacksonville’s stance after the team previously refused to move the former first-round pick at last season’s trade deadline

The development has quickly generated speculation across the league, with many Broncos insiders and analysts believing Denver should explore the opportunity.

Should the Broncos try to bring him to Denver?

Thomas burst onto the scene during the 2024 season with one of the most impressive rookie campaigns in the NFL.

The former LSU standout recorded 87 receptions for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns. He quickly emerged as a major weapon in Jacksonville’s offense and even earned a Pro Bowl selection.

However, his second season looked much different.

Thomas finished the 2025 campaign with just 48 catches for 707 yards and just two touchdowns, a significant drop in production from his rookie year.

While those numbers are still respectable, the step back, combined with Jacksonville’s evolving offense, appears to have opened the door to trade discussions.

The Jaguars added veteran receiver Jakobi Meyers at last season’s trade deadline. Meyers emerged as a reliable option in the passing game late last year.

Parker Washington also emerged as a productive target last season, leading the team with 847 receiving yards.

Travis Hunter is also in the mix.

Because of that crowded receiver room, Jacksonville may now be willing to listen to offers if the right one emerges.

Broncos Still Searching for Offensive Firepower

All offseason long, both head coach Sean Payton and general manager George Paton made it clear adding an offensive playmaker was a big priority.

However, the Broncos have missed out on several early free-agency options so far.

They resigned J.K. Dobbins after losing out on Kenneth Walker, Tyler Allgeier and Travis Etienne in free agency.

They also were linked to Alec Pierce but he re-signed with the Indianapolis Colts.

However, it’s only Day 1, and the Broncos could still be searching for an elite playmaker.

Because of that, the idea of pursuing someone like Thomas has begun to gain traction.

At just 23 years old, the former first-round pick still possesses elite upside and two remaining years on his rookie contract. Any team acquiring him would be betting that his rookie breakout season is closer to his true potential.

For Denver, that type of upside could be appealing after a slow start to free agency.

If the Jaguars ultimately decide to move their young receiver, the Broncos could become one of the more intriguing teams to watch.
