Draymond Green will have to decide on a $27.6 million player option this offseason.

Controversial Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green loves to share his bluntest thoughts and rarely holds back when asked about sensitive topics. However, Green even targeted his own Warriors fan base for the percentage who want him traded away. More fans have started to desire seeing the long-time veteran getting moved to improve the team’s lackluster roster.

Green shared the following message to the fans who think the franchise should trade him:

“I see fans saying different sh*t now. I’ll see Warriors fans like “yo it’s time to get him out of here” and to the real Warriors fans who don’t feel that way, thank you. To the ones who do feel that way, you were a loser before I got here. A f*cking stone cold forever losers! If you say that, it makes sense to me. You never been here.”

Golden State struggled for decades until the trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Green made them the most powerful dynasty for quite some time. Four NBA Championships in eight years completely changed the franchise for the better. Green feels that he deserves more respect and doesn’t understand why some Warriors fans want him to go.

Why Warriors Fans Are Sick Of Draymond

Most NBA fan bases hope to see a franchise great spend their entire careers with the franchise and retire there. Damian Lillard leaving the Portland Trail Blazers only to return shows how quickly both sides could regret ending a legendary tenure. Green is hoping he can play his final few seasons in Golden State and retire as a rare one-franchise player.

However, Green has lost a lot of faith from fans due to his constant technical fouls, flagrant fouls, and suspensions to come from his actions. The Warriors have been put in bad situations due to Green’s emotions costing them victories and impacting playoff series.

Green’s overall play has taken a big step back as well, with extremely below average offensive numbers this season. The defense is still strong when called upon, but even that is no longer as dominant nor as successful as his best years. Green’s contract also plays a role in fans wanting him gone in exchange for better players to win one more title.

Will Golden State Trade Draymond Green?

This upcoming offseason will be huge for the Warriors to make a big change and try to upgrade the roster. Curry still plays at an All-NBA level, and the current goal is to contend as long as he’s that incredible of a talent.

A big trade or signing is needed, and reports indicate that Curry fully expects that to happen in the offseason. Injured All-Star Jimmy Butler is not scheduled to return until a few months into next season.

Golden State is likely going to have to trade either Green or Butler to receive a star talent back to boost their title hopes. LeBron James is a free agent, but he would have to accept a cheap contract to join the Warriors. Green certainly hopes this happens since other options would see him realistically traded as the expendable contract.
