Following an impressive win against the New York Knicks on Sunday, the Los Angeles Lakers are now sitting in the fifth spot in the Western Conference standings, jumping ahead of Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets.
On Tuesday, the Lakers will have an opportunity to continue putting pressure on the top teams in the West, as they’ll face Anthony Edwards’ Minnesota Timberwolves, who are currently in third place in the West. at Crypto.com Arena.
However, there’s a chance the Lakers will be without superstar forward LeBron James for a third straight game, as he is dealing with a right hip contusion.

Fortunately for the Lakers, the rest of the team’s injury report ahead of Tuesday’s game against the visiting Timberwolves is clean, with no other players listed.
The interesting part of this new injury report from the Lakers updating James' status for Tuesday's game is the fact it has changed from an elbow contusion he's dealing with to a hip contusion, so it is unclear if this is a new injury or a mistake.
Either way, the fact James still has a questionable status moving forward is not ideal, as it could be something that lingers for the four-time NBA champion moving forward. The last thing the Lakers need at the moment is to have one of their best players on the mend during the final stretch of the 2025-26 campaign.
There's only 18 regular-season games left on the schedule, and things won't get any easier for the Lakers from here on out, starting with a tough matchup against the Timberwolves, who have gotten into a groove as of late, winning eight of their last 10 games resulting in moving up the standings to the third spot.
