Report: Allen reunites with Bills, Josh Allen on 2-year deal

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Bills are bringing back a familiar face behind quarterback Josh Allen, agreeing to terms with their former backup Kyle Allen, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday.

The two-year, $4.1 million deal could be worth up to $6.1 million, the source said.

The need for a new backup quarterback in Buffalo came after Mitchell Trubisky -- who served in that role in 2021 and 2024-25 -- agreed to a two-year deal earlier in the day with the Tennessee Titans.

Kyle Allen was previously with the Bills as Josh Allen’s backup in 2023. He spent the 2025 season backing up Jared Goff in Detroit after spending the 2024 season as a backup with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He has played in 34 games and made 19 career starts.

Kyle Allen and Josh Allen are close friends. Both entered the NFL in 2018 -- Josh Allen as the seventh overall pick, while Kyle Allen signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent.

Josh Allen has not missed a start or significant game time due to injury since his rookie season, the longest active start streak among quarterbacks (122).

The Bills also re-signed quarterback Shane Buechele to a one-year deal earlier this offseason.
