Eagles Lose 4 Starters Right Before Free Agency: Report

The Philadelphia Eagles made 2022 No. 13 overall pick Jordan Davis the highest-paid nose tackle in NFL history over the weekend. ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the deal as three years and $78 million, including $65 million guaranteed. That is where the good news ended for Eagles fans.

The league’s legal free-agency tampering period began at noon EST on Monday, and Philadelphia lost three defensive starters from 2025 and a wide receiver not named A.J. Brown throughout the day.

First, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that former Miami Dolphins and Eagles pass rusher Jaelan Phillips agreed to a four-year, $120 million contract with the Carolina Panthers. Hours later, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that Eagles linebacker Nakobe Dean agreed to a three-year, $36 million deal with the Las Vegas Raiders, where he will reunite with former Georgia Bulldogs teammate Quay Walker. By Monday evening, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that Eagles safety Reed Blankenship agreed to join the Houston Texans on a three-year, $24.75 million deal.

On the offensive side of the ball, wide receiver Jahan Dotson is expected to depart for the Atlanta Falcons.

All deals cannot become official until the new league year and free agency period officially open on Wednesday at 4 p.m. EST.

According to The Philadelphia Inquirer‘s Jeff McLane, “Jihaad Campbell is expected to take Dean’s spot at ILB.” The Eagles selected Campbell out of Alabama with the No. 31 overall pick in last year’s NFL Draft.

Philly could still lose more starpower as the offseason goes on. According to NBC Sports’ Matthew Berry, the Eagles “will definitely be moving on” from veteran tight end Dallas Goedert. Not to mention the ongoing A.J. Brown trade saga, which NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport expects to “hit pause” until after April’s 2026 NFL Draft or possibly after June 1.
