The Denver Broncos are still searching for help at wide receiver as the early stages of NFL free agency unfold.

According to Denver Post reporter Luca Evans, the Broncos have explored the possibility of adding former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs.

“Doubs is a definite potential fit for the Broncos here; Denver has interest in the former Green Bay receiver, an NFL source told The Post,” Evans reported.

The report stops short of suggesting that a deal is imminent, but it confirms that Denver has at least inquired about the 25-year-old receiver as the team evaluates options to strengthen the offense around quarterback Bo Nix.

Doubs is coming off the most productive season of his career. He is widely viewed as one of the more intriguing wide receivers still available on the market.

Broncos Still Searching for Offensive Playmakers

Denver entered free agency with clear goals on offense. General manager George Paton and head coach Sean Payton have repeatedly emphasized the need to add more explosive weapons around Nix as the team continues building its offense.

So far, however, the opening wave of free agency has not delivered the outside playmaker many expected.

The Broncos’ most notable offensive move early in the market was re-signing running back J.K. Dobbins after a productive but injury-shortened 2025 season.

Dobbins was a top-five rusher before suffering a season-ending foot injury. He had 772 rushing yards in just 10 games.

While bringing Dobbins back helps maintain continuity in the run game, it does not address Denver’s need for additional playmakers in the passing attack.

Outside of Courtland Sutton, the Broncos’ wide receiver room remains relatively young and unproven.

Players such as Marvin Mims Jr., Troy Franklin, and rookie Pat Bryant flashed potential at times. But Denver has made it clear they are looking for a major upgrade.

That reality has kept the Broncos active in exploring additional options as the free-agent market continues to take shape.

Romeo Doubs Could Be a Logical Target for Broncos

Doubs could represent a logical addition if Denver ultimately decides to pursue the interest further.

The former fourth-round pick out of Nevada developed into a very dependable starter during his four seasons in Green Bay.

Across 59 career games with the Packers, Doubs recorded 202 receptions for 2,424 yards and 21 touchdowns.

He has also produced at least 600 receiving yards in three consecutive seasons while establishing himself as a versatile weapon capable of playing both outside and in the slot.

At 6-foot-2 and 204 pounds, Doubs brings the size and physicality that could complement Sutton while providing another reliable target for Nix in the passing game.

Financially, the move could also be realistic for Denver. The Broncos entered free agency with more cap flexibility than several competing teams.

On Monday, the team released linebacker Dre Greenlaw which freed an additional $6 million in cap space.

While Day 1 of free agency was not what Broncos fans hoped for, there is still plenty of time for Paton to make additional moves.

Bringing in Romeo Doubs would be the perfect first move.
