Malik Willis’ time with the Green Bay Packers has come to an end after he agreed to the biggest contract he’s had so far in his NFL career.
On Monday, Willis reportedly reached an agreement with the Miami Dolphins on a three-year contract worth $67.5 million.
It’s quite a pay jump for the former Liberty Flames star quarterback. When he was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in 2022, he was signed by the AFC South team to a four-year, $5.16 million contract. It was not too shabby of a deal, but that clearly now pales in comparison with what he’s going to get from the Dolphins. His deal with Miami also comes with a guaranteed amount of $45 million.
The Packers have a lot to do with the resurrection of Willis’ pro career. They traded for him in 2024, and while he only served as a backup to Jordan Love, Willis proved to be a dependable option whenever Green Bay needed him to take the field.
Willis writes a heartfelt message for Packers supporters
In 11 games played with Green Bay, Willis racked up 972 passing yards and six touchdowns with six picks thrown on a 78.7 percent completion rate. While his sample size with Green Bay was small, the Dolphins obviously believe in his potential to grow even more as a quarterback if given a bigger workload and expanded duties under center
Meanwhile, Willis penned a heartfelt message for Green Bay fans, who embraced and supported him during his time with the team.
“Much love and respect to packer nation supporting us and me the past 2 years! It has been awesome upholding the standard for the green and gold 🧀,” Willis wrote (via his official X account).
“It has been more than a blessing and i will never forget my time here and the relationships I made! Fins Up 🐬 Matthew 6:33-34 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
