Report: Chiefs agree to re-sign Tyquan Thornton to 2-year deal

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Kansas City’s top deep threat from 2025 is returning to the Chiefs in 2026.

According to a report from NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, wide receiver Tyquan Thornton has agreed to terms on a deal that keeps him in Kansas City.

Garafolo reported the two-year deal, $11 million deal maxes out at $14 million if Thornton hits his incentives.

Thornton and quarterback Patrick Mahomes developed a solid connection on deep throws in 2025, leading to career highs in receiving yards (438) and touchdowns (3) for the former second-round pick of the New England Patriots.

The re-signing keeps Thornton in Kansas City for a third season after he was added to the Chiefs’ practice squad late in the 2024 season.

Thornton started four games for Kansas City early in the year, but was limited in production later in the season when the Chiefs had Rashee Rice return from suspension.
