Travis Kelce is a big Taylor Swift fan, of course, but he has some competition, because there's another pro athlete who's into her.
Monday, March 9, has been a big day for Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, who will be signing a new deal with the franchise to stay with the team for one more year. But, his future wife Taylor Swift is always making news of her own, and today is no exception.
As for Kelce, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that not only is the tight end returning to the team, but the Chiefs are giving Kelce “a one-year, $12 million deal that has a max value of $15 million, per source.” So, he’ll be back at Arrowhead Stadium for the 2026-27 season, and it’s expected that Swift will be by his side, cheering him on in the stands at home games.
As it turns out, though, Swift has another professional athlete who’s totally smitten with her. Of course, she’s getting married to Kelce, so let’s just call this a harmless crush or even just someone who appreciates her good music.
Taylor Swift Has an Admirer in a World Baseball Classic Player
Taylor Swift is still celebrating the release of her 12th studio album, 2025’s “The Life of a Showgirl,” and it continues to top the Billboard charts. Swift is also coming up on career news, in that she’s set to release the second single off “The Life of a Showgirl,” on Tuesday, March 10. That song is “Elizabeth Taylor,” and the single officially reaches radio on March 10, so expect to hear it in heavy rotation.
World Baseball Classic player Todd Van Steensel is a mega Taylor Swift fan. His story sounds a bit similar to Kelce’s.
“He’s gone to concerts, created Swift-inspired friendship bracelets for his teammates and has even met the singer,” Michael Clair of the MLB’s official website mlb
He also even has tattoo on the inside of his wrist that says “Fearless,” written in a script font the looks like her signature. Maybe Kelce can get a similar tattoo?
“A long time ago, I listened to ‘Our Song,’ and after that, I was hooked,” Van Steensel told the MLB’s official website. So, he looked up “Who’s Taylor Swift?” online, “listened to her albums at the time and ever since then, I’ve just followed her career and followed her around the world.”
World Baseball Classic Player Has a Taylor Swift Tattoo
He said of the tattoo that “it’s a little mantra, but also an homage to her album. It’s fun and I love the way she tells stories through her music.”
So, what’s his favorite Swift song? He can’t answer. “If I had children, that’s like asking who my favorite child was,” Van Steensel said, laughing.
But, don’t worry, Kelce, because Van Steensel is taken. This is a harmless admiration from afar. In the story, he says that the Swift song he listens to if he wants to “feel those lovey-dovey feelings that make me think of my partner” is “Love Story,” which is “the only Taylor Swift song” his partner likes, he says.
We’re sure Kelce wasn’t worried, but just in case.
