For a while, his chances of returning this season appeared slim, but the veteran forward may be getting closer to a comeback. The team’s most recent injury report lists Prince as questionable for Milwaukee’s game against the Phoenix Suns.

Prince’s return is unlikely to immediately change the fortunes of the Milwaukee Bucks. Prior to his injury, he was already putting together one of his weakest seasons, though in just an eight-game sample. Prince will need time to regain his rhythm and conditioning. When fully healthy, he can contribute as a dependable three-point threat and handle defensive assignments against opposing wing players.
The key question now is where Taurean Prince will fit into the Bucks’s lineup. Just a few weeks ago, the team would have jumped at the chance to bring him back due to their shallow forward rotation. But with Ousmane Dieng thriving, especially in a starting role, it would stir backlash if Doc Rivers suddenly inserted Prince ahead of the young star who has been performing at a high level.

It will be worth watching whether the 31-year-old ends up absorbing some minutes from AJ Green. The guard, who has been filling in as a small forward for much of the season, has recently struggled with his effectiveness on both offense and defense declining.
Doc Rivers may look to ease Prince back into the rotation by giving him some of Green’s minutes, especially if the young guard continues to struggle.

Regardless, it’s encouraging that Taurean Prince has recovered from his injury and is set to rejoin the Milwaukee Bucks soon. If he doesn’t play in this matchup, he should be ready for one of the next few games.
