Moises Caicedo tops Premier League list that Declan Rice doesn't even feature on

Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo and Arsenal’s Declan Rice are widely considered as the two best midfielders in the Premier League.

Everything is pointing towards Rice winning the Premier League Player of the Season award. It seems inevitable if the Gunners go on to claim the title.

A lot of pundits feel that he is a more complete footballer than Caicedo, but the Chelsea man clears him in at least one area.

Who’s your Chelsea Player of the Season so far?

Tell us why below! ✍️

Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has made the most interceptions in the Premier League this season

According to Squawka, Caicedo is the first player in the Premier League this season to make 50+ interceptions.

He tops the list, with Rice not even making the top 10. Of course, the Arsenal star’s role is a lot different to what it used to be before.

Rice is more of a No.8 these days so is doing less defending. Still, Caicedo has always been the better interceptor and tackler and is hard to rival.

As per WhoScored, the number of interceptions that he makes per game averages around 2.1, which is also the highest among Premier League players.

Who will get sent off next? 🔴

Something is telling me Andrey Santos! 🤷‍♂️

Chelsea players to have been sent off

Caicedo also makes three tackles per game, putting him in the top 10 for that as well. Again, Rice is nowhere to be seen.

The Ecuadorian has a big test coming up this week, with Chelsea taking on Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Former Blue Frank Leboeuf thinks PSG should be worried about Caicedo and a few other players in Liam Rosenior’s squad. It would not be a surprise if they are, as PSG are short of confidence right now, something that Luis Enrique recently revealed.

Chelsea should also be worried about the threats that the French champions have. Ousmane Dembele struggled in the Club World Cup final against them last year, but is still one of the best forwards in football. Hopefully Caicedo and Co can stop him, though, and take a lead back to Stamford Bridge.
