'I didn't mean to hit him': Lu Dort reacts to new Nikola Jokic flagrant foul

The embattled Thunder forward revealed that he had already apologized to Jokic after hitting him in the face.

Oklahoma City Thunder wing Lu Dort told reporters following their 129-126 Monday win over the Denver Nuggets that he apologized to Nikola Jokic after another flagrant foul play against the superstar center.

"Just lost in the competition," Dort told ESPN's Tim MacMahon. "But shook his hand, [said] 'great game' and I apologized that that happened."

Jokic landed on the ground and grabbed his face in the 1:12 mark of the final quarter after Dort, who was defending Jamal Murray, hit him in the face after setting a screen. Officials deemed Dort's left arm swing a flagrant foul 1.

This marked the second flagrant act by Dort against Jokic, two weeks after he saw the angry Nuggets superstar confronting him for his viral questionable contact.

On his own, Jokic already dismissed any malicious intent that could be behind Dort's newest reckless hit. It also appeared that he finally moved on from what had previously happened, in which Dort openly admitted that he "went over the limit."

Before the Monday game, OKC head coach Mark Daigneault offered remorse for his instant reaction that defended Dort against Jokic. Nuggets coach David Adelman previously called out Daigneault and the Thunder for enabling Dort's "cheap shot" on the three-time MVP.

The Thunder and the Nuggets will meet again for the fourth and final time this regular season on Apr. 10.
