The Blues' knockout action in the UEFA Champions League begins with a trip to France to face current European champions Paris Saint-Germain. Here are all the facts and figures you need before the first leg of a mouthwatering Round of 16 tie.
Our last meeting with Paris St-Germain came in July, when we played in the FIFA Club World Cup final, the first major international final ever contested between teams from England and France. The Blues won 3-0 in the United States, with two goals from Cole Palmer and one from Joao Pedro.
Having not faced PSG until 2004, we have now had nine matches against them in all competitions, with an identical results record: won three, drawn three and lost three.
All the meetings before last summer’s Club World Cup were in the Champions League, with the two clubs drawn together in the knockout phase three years in a row between 2014 and 2016. Our 2004 meetings were in the group stage.

The Blues are competing in our 20th Champions League campaign. We have now made the knockout stages in each of our most recent nine appearances.
The Blues have won four of our past seven away knockout games in the Champions League (one draw, two defeats), although we have lost our last two, at Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid in 2023.
We have been victorious in our last six European matches against French opposition and two of our previous five UEFA two-legged ties against Ligue 1 teams. We have won our last six away games in France.

Milestones
Robert Sanchez will make his 100th appearance for Chelsea if selected in Paris, while Marc Cucurella made his 150th appearance for the club at Wrexham.

PSG’s first-ever season was 1970/71, the campaign Chelsea won our first European trophy: the Cup Winners’ Cup against Real Madrid.
This is PSG’s 18th campaign in the Champions League proper. They have featured every season since 2012/13, reaching the knockout stages in the last 14 campaigns.
Having finished 15th in last season's league phase, Luis Enrique's side beat Brest (10-0 aggregate), Liverpool (1-1, 4-1 pens), Aston Villa (5-4) and Arsenal (3-1) to reach the showpiece in Munich, where their 5-0 win against Inter Milan was the biggest final victory in European Cup history.
PSG have lost only two of their last 14 European games (eight wins, four draws). The Ligue 1 side have won their last five Champions League two-legged ties.
Since the start of last season, PSG have faced English teams in 12 competitive matches. Only Chelsea (in the Club World Cup final) and Arsenal (during the Champions League league stage) managed to defeat them.
Paris Saint-Germain have secured victories in their last three two-legged fixtures against English teams, all during last season’s Champions League. They eliminated Liverpool via penalties, defeated Aston Villa with a 5-4 aggregate score, and overcame Arsenal 3-1 on aggregate.
Paris Saint-Germain are equal top scorers (with Newcastle United) in the Champions League this season, with 26 goals.
Since PSG lost to Bayern Munich on 4 November, they have won seven of their 12 home games across all competitions (three draws). Their only defeats in that time came as holders against local rivals Paris FC in the Coupe de France last 32 in January, and against Monaco on Friday in Ligue 1.

Luis Enrique's side suffered their first home league defeat of the season on Friday evening, when Monaco ended PSG’s run of seven consecutive home league wins by achieving the league double against them. PSG remain top of Ligue 1, one point above second-placed Lens.

There are no suspensions. Enzo Fernandez and Andrey Santos are one Champions League booking away from a one-match suspension. PSG’s Nuno Mendes will miss the second leg at Stamford Bridge if he is booked.
Players and team officials are suspended for the next competition match after three cautions, that did not result in a red card, as well as after any subsequent odd-numbered caution (fifth, seventh, ninth, etc). All yellow cards expire on the completion of the quarter-finals and are not carried forward to the semi-finals.
