Alex Anzalone A Welcome Addition
March 10th, 2026
Bringing the juice!
It’s borderline irresponsible to gauge what a team’s offseason plans are to build up an otherwise sad, soft defense after just the first day of free agency.
But Joe’s willing to bet there later this morning the Bucs will be trying to talk fans off the ledge from canceling their season tickets. Joe will have more later but Joe has no idea as he is typing this what the Bucs are exactly planning for the defensive side of the ball.
Let’s see what happens today on Day 2.
The one move the Bucs made yesterday was signing Detroit linebacker Alex Anzalone. Joe loves this move, even if Anzalone will turn 32 in September.
(Man, if Lavonte David, 36, returns, between him and Anzalone, the Bucs are going to have to stock cases of BOOST on the sidelines at practices and at games.)
Anzalone’s energy and juice is exactly what this timid and soft Bucs defense needs. Badly. Any inside linebacker for Dan Campbell, you know he has to be a glass-eating, physical man. Campbell wouldn’t have anything less starting for him at linebacker.
The former Gators’ presence is sorely lacking currently on the defensive roster of the Bucs. He will punish people. Folks won’t want to try to run inside on the Bucs without a price to pay.
So Joe loves this addition. The rest of what happened to the Bucs ‘ defense yesterday? Well, Joe’s scratching his head.
