Man City star reported to the police as statement issued - report

Rodri has been reported to the police by angry neighbours who have accused the Manchester City star of invading their privacy, according to the Sun.

The Spaniard was heavily punished on Monday afternoon for his comments following City's defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in February.

The 2024 Ballon d'Or winner gave a furious interview after the 2-2 draw where he accused referee Rob Jones of 'not being neutral'. He was fined £80,000 and warned about his future conduct.

Rodri apologised in a letter to the FA. His letter read: "I would like to apologise again for comments I made during my post-match interview following the fixture against Tottenham. I fully accept my words, as expressed, were inappropriate and fell below the standard expected of me as a professional player."

Rodri has now found himself in trouble for his behaviour away from football.

The Man City star has now angered his neighbours - who have reported him to police for flying a drone outside the windows of their apartment.

Footage has emerged of Rodri flying his drone on social media, with the individual not happy at all with his actions. Neighbours have said that his drone-flying hobby has invaded their privacy and left them fearing he has been able to see into their properties.

One resident who contacted The Sun said: “I live with my partner on a high floor and the last thing you expect to see when you’re watching telly is a drone a metre outside the window.

“My wife is very unnerved by it. One of the benefits of living so high up is that you’re not overlooked by anyone, but now we are being plagued by Rodri and his drone.”

Another nearby resident said they were watching television one evening when they saw a green flashing light outside their window.

They said: “We have seen it flying outside our window and then flying back to Rodri’s penthouse patio. He has got all the money in the world and spends his time flying his drone into people’s windows.”

Police Issue Statement on Rodri's Behaviour

One neighbour who called the police to complain about Rodri was told that officers would be sent out. Others have done the same, questioning whether he is breaching rules on where drones can fly and what they are allowed to film. Greater Manchester Police have now released a statement that reads:

“We have received a complaint and officers are making enquiries.”

Rodri has suffered an injury-plagued few years after winning the 2024 Ballon d'Or. He suffered a serious knee injury that kept him out for the majority of the 2024/25 season, while he has suffered from groin and hamstring issues this campaign.

In 2025/26, the Spaniard has played 24 times and scored twice. Rodri will now be hoping his injury problems are behind him as the season reaches its business end.
