Manchester United player on support from Liverpool and Aston Villa stars – Have visited his house

Manchester United’s Lisandro Martínez has had support from Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister and Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martínez while working on his recovery.

The Argentina international defender has been speaking to D Sports. TyC Sports relayed his comments on the effort put in by the Liverpool star and the Aston Villa goalkeeper.

Lisandro has suffered two serious setbacks since joining Manchester United from Ajax in July 2022.

He picked up the last one in February 2025 as the 28-year-old tore his cruciate ligament. He underwent surgery and was on the sidelines for 10 months.

The centre-back recently said he considered ending his playing career after suffering the last serious setback.

Liverpool and Aston Villa stars’ support

Lisandro has played alongside the Liverpool midfielder and the Aston Villa star for the national team for several years. The trio were part of La Albiceleste’s World Cup winning squad in 2022.

The Manchester United player now revealed the ‘tremendous gesture’ from Mac Allister and Emiliano during his toughest period.

The Liverpool man and the Aston Villa stopper had visited him unannounced, which meant a lot to Lisandro.

“It was one of the toughest situations. I needed everyone’s help; without them, it wouldn’t have been easy. You have to start from scratch again,” he said.

“Dibu [Emiliano] and Mac Allister showed up at my house to support me That shows what we are like in the national team, how we look out for each other.

“Dibu sent me a message. He said, ‘I’m coming to your house.’ And when he arrived, he said, ‘Look, Mac Allister is coming too.’ ‘Oh well, you handle it,’ I told him. It was a really nice moment.”

Lisandro’s importance for Manchester United

The South American regained full fitness in November and featured regularly for the Red Devils before suffering another setback in February. He played 14 matches in the Premier League and Manchester United were unbeaten in all those fixtures.

Lisandro missed the Old Trafford club’s last three matches, and it includes a defeat to Newcastle United. Sport Witness recently relayed news his setback isn’t a serious one and shouldn’t spend more time in the sidelines.

Both results and performances with and without the Argentine shows his importance for Manchester United.
