The Tua Tagovailoa era is over. The Miami Dolphins made the announcement yesterday that they would be releasing Tua with a post–June 1 designation resulting in $99 million in dead money, split over two years. Tua provided fans with efficiency and excitement for two years before going into a slump over the past two seasons. Injuries plagued him and he was never really able to step up when it mattered. The Dolphins will now turn the page and look towards the future as they try to navigate through this salary cap mess.
On the other hand, the Dolphins may have found their new starter as the team is expected to sign Malik Willis. Willis has been connected to Miami since Jon-Eric Sullivan and Jeff Hafley strolled into town. He had a small sample size with the Green Bay Packers, but he was pretty good when he saw action. The potential is there, it’s just being able to get him to perform like that consistently. If he works out, great. If not, it’s easy to start planning a change with the quarterback draft class that is expected to come out in 2027.
You can check out that story here, and the rest of the day’s round-up below.
