Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nnamdi Collins has admitted that reports linking him with Newcastle United, Liverpool and Manchester City have surprised him.
BILD have comments from the 22-year-old today. He discusses his surprise at reading reports about the Premier League interest in him.
Collins has been earning admirers from England this season thanks to his performances for Frankfurt so far. He has impressed under new coach Albert Riera, who has made him a regular starter again.
That’s led to speculation about a big money move this summer. Reports have credited Newcastle, Liverpool and Manchester City with an interest.
Change of agent before summer
Indeed, Sport Witness covered a report last week which explained that Nnamdi Collins’ recent change of agent could help smooth the path to Anfield.
Collins, like everyone else, has been keeping up to date with the rumours. But it seems he’s surprised by them suddenly appearing.
“All the things I’ve read about it on the internet are new to me,” he said.
“That’s why I’m quite surprised by some of it. But that’s football, we all know the business. Rumours come up here and there, but I’m very happy to be here at Eintracht.”

Liverpool makes sense
Of those three suitors named, Liverpool is undoubtedly the one which makes the most sense given the crisis they’ve had in central defence this season.
With Ibrahima Konate still seemingly on the way out this summer, the Reds will need to bring in a replacement.
They’ve already signed Jeremy Jacquet of course, but his shoulder injury and subsequent surgery has already put his pre-season in doubt.
Joe Gomez cannot provide a reliable long-term option alongside Virgil van Dijk either. As a result, Collins—rated at €15m by Transfermarkt—could be a smart option.
The fact that Liverpool have scouted him recently might indicate that they feel the same way.
