Report: The'message'Luis Enrique has told his PSG players about facing Chelsea

Luis Enrique has seemed quite calm and collected on the surface, but he’s been relaying a very serious message to his Paris Saint-Germain players ahead of the Chelsea clash in the Champions League.

Chelsea were given possibly the perfect tie in the Champions League when they drew PSG. After all the antics in the summer, this one has the makings of a very tasty tie.

And there’s possibly no better time to play PSG than now. Luis Enrique‘s side have lost two of their last six games, as well as only just scraping through against AS Monaco.

Ahead of the game, Enrique even picked Chelsea as the side he wanted to face, but he’s gone silent since the draw took place when it comes to any trash talk.

Behind the scenes, there are plenty of nerves, and the message is clear to his PSG players, as he references the Liverpool game from last season.

Luis Enrique puts his trust in his PSG players ahead of Chelsea

A report from L’Equipe, Enrique has already given his speech to the PSG players.

In his speech to his players, he reiterated the confidence he places in each one and the optimism he feels ahead of what he calls the “key moments” of the season.

“Honestly, everything is calm. Just like at the same time last season, right before facing Liverpool, our message is the same: stay united, fight for each other, and don’t let up.”

It’s claimed that some players have been doubting over the past few weeks and haven’t hesitated to make it known, and Chelsea can take advantage of this.

Chelsea’s tactics need to be spot on

To dismantle a nervy PSG, Liam Rosenior must exploit the ghosts of the 2025 Club World Cup final by deploying a high-intensity, man-oriented press. PSG’s backline has shown significant nervousness when forced to build under pressure.

The strategy hinges on suffocating Luis Enrique’s preferred central rotations. By tasking Moises Caicedo with shadowing PSG’s creative pivots, Chelsea can force the Parisians into hurried, long-range clearances, a metric where they have struggled this season.

If Chelsea can maintain this aggressive stance in the opening twenty minutes, they will likely trigger the same psychological collapse seen in New Jersey, but they also need to be wary defensively.
