Technical glitches briefly stole the spotlight during a recent episode of The Pat McAfee Show just as the crew prepared to break a major piece of NFL news.

Broadcasting live from the Thunderdome studio in Indianapolis, McAfee took center stage to cover one of the NFL’s busiest moments of the year. The host of The Pat McAfee Show was joined by guests such as Peter Schrager and Dan Orlovsky, along with several other ESPN personalities, as top free agents worked to finalize deals ahead of the 2026 season.

The special Free Agency Frenzy Extravaganza also included frequent updates from NFL insider Adam Schefter, who was seemingly isolated from the rest of the studio.

As the news broke that the New Orleans Saints had signed running back Travis Etienne on a four-year $52 million deal and that Wan'Dale Robinson had joined the Tennessee Titans, McAfee threw to Schrager and Orlovsky in the "fun zone."

However, both of their microphones were muted, causing panic in the studio. McAfee then runs over to the duo with a handheld microphone as the crew works to solve the issue.

It happened at the worst moment as Schrager began to break the news that Khyiris Tonga was moving on from the New England Patriots after just one season. The defensive tackle has reportedly agreed to a three-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs valued at up to $21 million.

The Pat McAfee show had some technical difficulties when it threw to Schrager and Orlovsky

While hundreds of NFL free agents are expected to finalize deals in the coming days, several notable moves already took place on Monday.

Travis Kelce confirmed he will return to the Kansas City Chiefs on a one-year contract, putting an end to speculation surrounding his future.

Meanwhile, Tua Tagovailoa announced he would depart the Miami Dolphins, prompting the team to move quickly by signing quarterback Malik Willis to a three-year deal.

It wasn't the only technical difficulty of the show. At one point, Schefter revealed a major free agency move, reporting that former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Jaelen Phillips had agreed to a blockbuster deal with the Carolina Panthers.

"Jaelan Phillips, a four-year, $120 million deal with the Carolina Panthers," Schefter said. "That just gets done, one of the best pass rushers in the market. This is going to have some implications here as there are a lot of people in the pass rush market."

As he rushed to share the news on social media, Schefter voiced frustration over technical issues slowing him down. "By the way, the Wi-Fi in this room is not working very well," he said.

"I'm trying to get things out here, and it's not working," he fumed.

McAfee quickly pushed back, joking that the Thunderdome studio had the fastest Wi-Fi and suggesting the problem must lie with Schefter’s tech instead.
