Liverpool will be keeping a close eye on the transfer news coming out of Man United, which threatens to scupper their own midfield recruitment plans.
Those at Old Trafford have identified Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga — two long-time Liverpool targets — as potential replacements for Casemiro.
Liverpool have been linked to Camavinga for years, and his situation at the Bernabeu could become untenable if Real Madrid’s Rodri interest materialises.
The same can be said for Tchouameni, and Man United are now seriously looking at both.

Man United could snap up one of the Real Madrid stars
A report from Dean Jones at Flashscore outlines the current state of play for United’s midfield search.
He claims Casemiro’s imminent departure has caused them to look at Camavinga and Tchouameni. United ‘previously explored’ moves for both French stars, who opted to remain in the Spanish capital.
With Madrid actively seeking further midfield additions, one or both of them could be made available for a transfer.

For Liverpool, it’s an added pressure to accelerate talks, if they do indeed want to bring one of them in. As for which player they should be targeting…
Eduardo Camavinga vs Aurelien Tchouameni to join Liverpool
These two stars are of the highest quality, but their games are also quite different.
Tchouameni is a more traditional defensive midfielder. He’s strong, quick and offers a strong line of defence in front of the back four. He can also play at centre-back.
Camavinga is more of a jack-of-all-trades. He can play anywhere in the midfield as well as on either flank, as a wide midfielder or even a full-back.
Camavinga La Liga 25/26 (per 90) Tchouameni
4.02 Tackles 2.43
0.86 Interceptions 1.39
1.03 Successful dribbles 0.09
91.9% Pass accuracy 91.5%
7.53 Duels won 6.11
As you can see, one player dominates across numerous facets of the game. It should be acknowledged that Tchouameni has been injured for much of the season, and also that Camavinga’s positional variance skews certain stats.
If you were to ask me who the better footballer is, though, I would say Camavinga. The 23-year-old can do virtually everything on the pitch and signing him would also address the need for Liverpool to replace Andy Robertson.
If it comes down to it, Camavinga is the one FSG have to get aggressive on, before United swoop in and derail our midfield plans.
