The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off a nightmare 2025 NFL season.
They went 6-11, and before it was over, Patrick Mahomes tore his ACL. And that sets up a critical offseason to turn things around and get right again for 2026.
That can also set up some wild speculation, and one move in particular has captured fans' imaginations on social media this week.
Even if it isn't true.

Is Patrick Mahomes being traded?
No, the Patrick Mahomes trade rumors aren't real.
They began because of this post on X, one that is fake:
The Jets reportedly have an offer for Patrick Mahomes on the table that includes “five first-round picks, WR Garrett Wilson, and draft compensation.”
The Chiefs have supposedly not closed the door on this trade offer which would make it the biggest trade in NFL history. 🤯 pic.twitter.com/25Z6qzCBWH

That account, NFL Drop, literally has the word "satire" in its description on X. It isn't posting real news. It's simply seeking engagement.
It's almost impossible to imagine what a trade package for Mahomes would be, but that's all it would be, imagination.
The Chiefs aren't trading Mahomes anytime soon.
And yeah, the Jets still need a quarterback. They won't be getting the one from Kansas City.
