Alisson’s long-term future at Liverpool has been called into question in recent weeks.
Sport Witness have covered claims from Italy about interest from Juventus, who are interested in bringing him back to Serie A in the summer.
There is concern regarding the performances of Michele Di Gregorio this season, with the Italian having made high-profile errors. This is making the Bianconeri consider an established goalkeeper, with the Liverpool star of interest.
Luciano Spalletti knows the former Roma player from their time together in the Italian capital. He would be keen on coaching him once again.
Juve’s task is unlikely to be easy. The Reds can put up specific challenges as part of the deal. Initially, there had been confidence in Turin a transfer would be relatively easy, but that confidence is starting to meet with a harsher reality.
Liverpool want goalkeeper to honour contract
Journalist Franco Leonetti has spoken about the Brazilian’s situation. He also mentioned Juventus’ interest in the 33-year-old but clarified the Reds’ stance on the matter.
With Alisson’s contract running out in 2027, Liverpool expect him to honour the deal.
Leonetti told Radio Bianconera – via Tuttomercatoweb: “It’s understandable that Juventus are looking for a goalkeeper with international experience. Whether it will be Oblak, Alisson, or someone else is too early to say.”
Specifically on Alissson, he said: “Regarding Alisson, the English club are saying that they would like to respect his contract until June 2027.”
This could force the Old Lady to pay a sum higher than expected. It has been suggested that intermediaries around Alisson are trying to engineer his exit but Liverpool themselves are posing a challenge.
Our take on Alisson’s Liverpool future
This stance from Liverpool may be a positive, if it’s genuine and not a bargaining position. Alisson is still at an age where goalkeepers can make an impact and he still does on a consistent basis.
Giorgi Mamardashvili is still behind the Brazil international in the pecking order as far as Arne Slot and the vast majority of fans are concerned. Even if he is the long-term successor, he would only learn from spending a further season around Alisson.
At a time when the squad is slowly undergoing a transition, having an experienced campaigner like Alisson can prove very important.
